Benchmark: Trusted Exchange Framework: Achieving Interoperability in Health Data

Take this benchmark to assess how much you would benefit from taking the course on Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). In a few minutes, you’ll see whether you understand why TEFCA exists, how it affects data sharing across networks, and what it demands from your organization’s policies, technology, and contracts. You’ll also gauge your grasp of information blocking enhancements (including the TEFCA Manner Exception), the updated privacy and security expectations under ONC’s Certification Program, and the real-world trade-offs between cost, compliance, equity, and operational speed. By completing this pre-course benchmark, you’ll learn: where your biggest gaps are (governance, technical controls, fees/licensing, onboarding), who in your organization is most impacted (compliance, IT, clinical operations, partners, and patients), and what value the course will add (clear action steps to join or work with QHINs, reduce custom interfaces, avoid information blocking pitfalls, and strengthen privacy and security). Use your results to decide whether you need the full course now, a targeted refresher, or a plan to brief your leadership on the implications and opportunities of TEFCA.

NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, all Benchmarks are free of charge!
